oin our diverse and talented people and work at the heart of national security, providing essential intelligence to the NZ government to protect New Zealand and its people.
At the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) | Te P Whakamarumaru, we are dedicated to our mission of keeping Aotearoa New Zealand and our people safe and secure. We collect and analyse intelligence and security concerns to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage and terrorism.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals to join our talented Target Analysis team.
Our Target Analyst cadre encompasses a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experience and plays a pivotal role in supporting our security and intelligence missions. Currently, we have vacancies for Middle Eastern and South Asian language speakers.
This role provides the opportunity to work with exclusive data sources whilst leveraging your linguistic and cultural experiences to provide unique insights to intelligence questions.
Working alongside other operational teams within the Intelligence Directorate, our Target Analysts support NZSIS Missions with a diverse range of foreign language capability or the skills to create, manipulate, query and interpret large and diverse datasets - often both!
Who are we looking for
A drive for continuous professional development will be crucial to your success in this role. Whilst the work requires independence and the ability to self-motivate, you'll also draw on your interpersonal and relationship skills to work with a variety of internal stakeholders. You will also have:
- Proficiency in one or more Middle Eastern and South Asian languages
- Excellent command of English, with experience in report writing
- Willingness to be a team player and be part of a collaborative environment
- Adaptable in a changing environment
- Strong computer literacy
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong customer focus and a positive attitude
Discretion will come naturally to you as will the resilience to cope with the sensitive and sometimes confronting information you may be exposed to as part of this role. The ability to seek support and look after yourself is essential.
Why work for us?
Getting to work alongside our talented people, we also offer a range of comprehensive benefits which include:
- Medical Insurance and vision care packages
- Enhanced employer contributions to your Kiwisaver
- Generous leave benefits
- On-site gym (Wellington)
- Childcare allowance for your pre-schoolers
- Opportunities for personal and professional growth and career pathways across the intelligence community
- Good work-life balance in the form of flexible hours
Before you apply
Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must:
- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
