Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and building plans.
  • Measure, mark and prepare materials in accordance with project requirements.
  • Construct, install, renovate and repair timber, plywood, lightweight steel framing and other building structures.
  • Install wall framing, roof framing, flooring systems, ceilings, partitions, cladding and decking.
  • Install doors, windows, staircases, cabinetry, skirting, architraves and other interior and exterior finishing components.
  • Carry out concrete formwork and temporary structures where required.
  • Ensure all work complies with the New Zealand Building Code, project specifications and company quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools and construction equipment safely.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, structural integrity and quality workmanship.
  • Identify defects, recommend corrective actions and complete repair work when required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised worksite in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, subcontractors and other trades to ensure projects are completed on time.

Requirements

Applicants must have either:

  • At least two (2) years of relevant carpentry work experience, or
  • A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (or overseas equivalent) in Carpentry or Construction.

In addition, applicants should:

  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of residential and commercial carpentry.
  • Be able to accurately read and interpret building plans.
  • Be competent in using a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Have a strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Be physically fit and capable of carrying out manual construction work.
  • Be reliable, punctual and able to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Hold a Full New Zealand Driver Licence (preferred but not essential).
  • Be willing to travel to various construction sites throughout the Auckland region.
