Metlifecare is a New Zealand retirement village and aged care provider that develops, owns, and operates integrated retirement communities offering independent living, serviced apartments, and rest-home-level care for older adults across the country.
A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in New Zealand provides essential support to nurses and other healthcare professionals in hospitals, aged care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and community care settings.
Job Description
- Typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting patients with personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Helping patients move safely, including transferring between beds and wheelchairs.
- Monitoring and recording basic observations (such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure if trained).
- Assisting patients with eating and drinking.
- Making beds, cleaning patient areas, and restocking medical supplies.
- Supporting nurses with patient care and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Completing basic documentation and reporting changes in patients' conditions to registered nurses.
Pay: $4,500.00 – $6,000.00 per month
