Food Technologist

About us

Free-Flow Manufacturing Limited is a growing beverage manufacturer producing high-quality beverages. We are looking for two Food Technologists to join our busy team in Glen Innes and help ensure our products consistently meet quality, food safety and customer requirements.

About the role

You will apply your food science knowledge to product testing, process verification and continuous improvement across our beverage manufacturing operations. Working with PET beverages, ready-todrink beverages and plant-based milk products, you will help maintain product quality from preproduction through to finished product release.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting physical, chemical and sensory testing to assess flavour, colour, appearance, texture, pH, dry solids and other product specifications.
• Assessing pre-production samples, in-process products and finished products to identify deviations and verify conformity with approved specifications.
• Carrying out shelf-life and stability assessments under different storage and environmental conditions. Analysing product, process and laboratory data to identify quality variations and recommend technical improvements.
• Verifying processing parameters, including ultra-high temperature (UHT) temperatures and flow rates.
• Developing and improving standard operating procedures, quality controls, hygiene practices and food safety procedures. Maintaining technical standards, inspection requirements and product-release criteria.
• Validating and verifying the effectiveness of cleaning, sanitation and processing controls.
• Evaluating packaging suitability for product protection, shelf life, storage and distribution.
• Investigating quality issues, non-conformances and customer complaints, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

About you

You will have:

• A qualification at Level 7 or above in food science and nutrition, food technology or food processing engineering.
• The ability to apply food science principles to product testing, quality assessment and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• A commitment to food safety, product quality and accurate technical documentation.
• The ability to communicate findings clearly and work effectively with the production team.
• Availability to work rotating shifts across our three-shift operation.
