About the Role
Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi have a great opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join our dynamic team in the Acute Medical Ward 4M based at Tauranga hospital. We are offering a permanent part-time position working 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week), ideal for a Health Care Assistant (HCA) looking to deepen their patient care experience in a supportive, high-performing environment. As an HCA on Ward 4M, your day is never "routine." You will work under the direction of a highly motivated, friendly and enthusiastic nursing team committed to delivering comprehensive quality care. We offer and support educational opportunities. The role is based at the Tauranga Hospital.

Ward 4M is a dynamic Acute Medical Ward at the heart of Tauranga Hospital. We specialise in caring for patients with complex medical conditionsranging from respiratory and cardiac issues to metabolic disorderswhile simultaneously focusing on early-stage rehabilitation.
We pride ourselves on a culture of Manaakitanga (respect and care) and Whanaungatanga (relationships). On 4M, our HCAs aren't just "helpers"; they are the eyes and ears of our clinical team.

About you
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, compassionate person who brings competence, a strong sense of teamwork, and a patient-focused mindset to every shift. You are committed to high-quality care and thrive in a busy ward environment.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Ideally, you have a Level 3 or 4 NZQA Health and Wellbeing Certificate (or equivalent).
- Resilience: The ability to remain calm in an acute medical environment where patient needs can change rapidly.
- Communication: Fluent English is essential, and a basic understanding of Te Reo Māori or Tikanga Māori is highly valued as we serve a diverse Bay of Plenty community.
- Team Spirit: A "can-do" attitude. Youre someone who sees a call bell and moves toward it.
