We're looking for an experienced and respected healthcare practitioner to join our Expert Advisory team as a Clinical Lead - Medicines.
This is a unique opportunity to influence national medicines funding decisions, provide clinical leadership across the health sector, and contribute to equitable access to healthcare for all New Zealanders.
About the Role | Mō tēnei tūranga
As a Clinical Lead, you'll provide clinical leadership and advice to support Pharmac's decision-making on medicines, vaccines, and medical devices. Working closely with internal teams, clinical experts, and health sector stakeholders, you'll help ensure funding decisions are informed by high-quality clinical evidence and real-world healthcare experience.
This is a fixed-term position until 30 June 2027. You may have experience in public health, general medicine or pharmacy. Part-time and other locations may be considered for the right candidate. Secondments from other health agencies may also be considered. The salary range midpoint is 174,598, dependent on professional skills and experience.
You'll play a key role in:
providing clinical leadership and advice to support medicines funding assessment and decisions, and management of the Pharmaceutical Schedule
building networks and maintaining relationships across the clinical community and wider health sector
representing Pharmac's perspective, processes and decisions externally with advisors, consumer groups and other stakeholders

We're seeking a leader who enjoys working collaboratively, influencing positive change, and balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery.
You'll bring:
Current registration and practising status as a New Zealand healthcare practitioner.
Strong knowledge of medicines and the New Zealand health sector.
Established professional networks and recognised standing within the clinical community.
Experience evaluating evidence and ing clinical judgement to decision-making.
Exceptional relationship management and communication skills.
