Full job description
We’re looking for an editorial thinker who can spot great stories, shape them into compelling content, and turn one insight into an ecosystem of content that helps Kiwi businesses get one step ahead.
For 175 years, ASB has helped Kiwi get One Step Ahead. Along the way, we’ve build a brand known for creativity, innovation and storytelling that connects with millions of people across Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Today, we continue to champion fresh thinking while being guided by our values: Care, Courage and Curiosity.
Mō te Tūranga | About the role
We’re looking for a talented Content Producer to join ASB’s Brand & Marketing Practice as a part of the Content team, with a focus on bringing our Business Banking editorial content strategy to life.
This is a unique hybrid role that combines the curiosity of a journalist, the craft of a writer and the strategic thinker of a content marketer. You’ll identify the stories worth telling, shape them into compelling content and create editorial experiences that help New Zealand businesses get one step ahead.
You’ll work closely with Business Banking stakeholders, marketers, and subject matter experts to transform complex topics into clear, engaging and genuinely useful content. From thought leadership and customer stories to articles, social content, scripts and campaign copy, you’ll create content that builds trust, demonstrates expertise and supports business outcomes.
More importantly, you’ll think beyond individual assets. You’ll develop connected content ecosystems, turning one interview, customer story or business insight into multiple pieces of content across owned and earned channels. You’ll be responsible for ensuring every story works harder.
This role requires strong editorial judgement and a strategic mindset. You’ll proactively identify opportunities from customer conversations, market trends, economic insights and internal expertise, developing an editorial pipeline that aligns with Business Banking priorities while delivering genuine value to customers.
Working alongside marketers, designers, digital teams, Corporate Affairs and content producers across social and podcasting, you’ll help shape a consistent editorial voice for Business Banking that is human, useful and distinctive.
Ō pūkenga | About you
You’re an exceptional storyteller who knows how to make complex ideas simple without losing their substance. You’re naturally curious, commercially minded, and constantly looking for stories hiding in everyday conversations, customer experiences, and emerging business trends.
You might currently be a business journalist, editorial producer, content strategist or senior copywriter looking to take ownership of an editorial function within a leading New Zealand brand.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Experience creating high-quality, editorial content across multiple channels, supported by a strong portfolio of published work.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with an instinct for clarity, structure and storytelling.
- Strong editorial judgement, including interviewing, fact-checking, shaping narratives and maintaining accuracy.
- The ability to translate business, financial or technical topics into content that is engaging, practical and customer-friendly.
- Experience developing thought leadership content for senior leaders and subject matter experts.
- Confidence creating content strategies, editorial calendars and story pipelines that support broader marketing objectives.
- A strong understanding of how editorial content can be adapted across websites, email, LinkedIn, podcasts and other owned channels.
- The ability to identify opportunities to repurpose and extend content into connected campaigns rather than standalone assets.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, building relationships and challenging ideas constructively.
- An appreciation of working within a regulated environment, balancing creativity with governance and compliance requirements.
Experience covering business, finance, economics or technology would be highly regarded but isn’t essential.
Experience capturing simple photography or video, supporting shorts or creating social-first content would be an advantage, but the heart of this role is editorial thinking, strategic storytelling and creating content that customers genuinely value.
