The Goodwood Park Healthcare Group is currently recruiting for Mental Health Support Workers/Rehabilitation Coaches to work with our mental health/traumatic brain injury/disability clients in our West and South Auckland residential facilities.
We are a well established, innovative and leading provider of residential support services and we constantly strive to ensure our clients are receiving services that are of the highest quality and promote better health and wellbeing.
About the role:
You will:
- Support clients with their daily tasks and encourage to maintain an appropriate standard of personal hygiene
- Follow clients support plans and behaviour risk management plans
- Support clients to achieve their goals as per their plans
- Encourage independence and autonomy
- Provide knowledge and support to access and utilise community resources
- Liaise with, and support family/whānau of clients
- Monitor and record any changes of health, reporting to the team leader as necessary
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Responsible for the day to day running of the house, household petty cash, assist in meal prep, general cleaning, washing and personal upkeep
- Promote and advise clients how to budget and manage week to week finances.
- Respect cultural identities and needs
- Maintain a safe working environment.
The overall purpose of this role is to achieve maximised levels of independence for our clients whilst providing a safe living environment. You will foster hope, identify strengths and develop resilience recognising that these are key components of the approach to leading a more positive and independent life.
What you will need:
- The ability to work in a team environment
- Be a great communicator
- A full New Zealand driver licence, or an international driver licence which you will convert to a New Zealand driver licence as soon as you are reasonably able to do so
- Be professional and have good boundaries and ethics
- NZ residency/valid NZ work visa
- Be compassionate, caring, patient
- Common-sense, problem-solving ability
- Able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Have/be prepared to work towards a National Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent
- Some experience is preferred, but consideration will be given to anyone who has the ability to be a quick learner and show they have what it takes to provide support to vulnerable clients.
