- Work with sophisticated surgical technology in a highly respected medical device business
Biomedical Engineer – Medical Devices | Auckland
An excellent opportunity for an experienced biomedical or service engineer ready to take the next step in their career with a leading global medical technology company.
Hands-on technical role | Predominantly workshop based | Customer-facing hospital support
The Role
Our client is seeking a capable and motivated Biomedical Engineer / Technical Service Engineer to join their Auckland-based technical service team.
This role will suit someone with solid technical experience who is still developing their career and wants the opportunity to broaden their expertise, take on greater responsibility and work with advanced medical technology.
The majority of your time will be spent in the workshop, diagnosing faults, servicing and repairing sophisticated medical equipment. However, you will also need to be comfortable getting out from behind the workbench when required, visiting hospitals to assess equipment, provide technical support or collect equipment requiring repair.
This is not a purely workshop-based position. You will need the technical capability to solve complex problems, combined with the confidence and personality to interact professionally with customers in hospital environments.
You will:
-
Diagnose, service and repair a range of sophisticated medical equipment
-
Carry out complex fault finding and technical troubleshooting
-
Complete preventative maintenance and equipment servicing
-
Work predominantly within the Auckland workshop
-
Attend hospitals when required to assess, support or retrieve equipment
-
Build positive working relationships with hospital and clinical customers
-
Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation
-
Work within established quality, regulatory and compliance requirements
-
Support the wider technical service team and contribute to continuous improvement
About You:
You will ideally bring:
Approximately 5–10 years' experience in biomedical engineering, medical device servicing or a related technical service environment
-
Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and repair capability
-
Experience working with complex electronic, electromechanical or medical equipment
-
A practical, hands-on approach and strong problem-solving skills
-
The confidence to engage professionally with customers in hospital environments
-
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a technical team
-
A strong desire to continue developing your technical capability and career
-
A relevant engineering, electronics or biomedical qualification
-
Permanent eligibility to work in New Zealand without sponsorship
This opportunity will particularly suit an engineer who has built a strong technical foundation and is now looking for the next stage of their career — someone who remains ambitious, engaged and keen to continue learning while taking greater ownership of their work.
We are unable to consider candidates who are overseas, hold temporary New Zealand work visas, require employer sponsorship, or do not meet the essential experience requirements.
Due to the volume of applications received for Biomedical Engineering positions, only applicants meeting all essential criteria will receive a response.
Please send your cover letter and CV to wendy@synergyconsult.co.nz .
