Full job description

Cook's/Cafe Assistants required for work in multiple venues in Queenstown. Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.

2 years experience in a fast paced & busy venue required.

Cafe experience also required.

Barista experience preferred but not required.

NZ Citizens & Residents applications are prioritized.

Position Description: Cook's/Cafe Assistant

Reports to: Head chef/Sous chef/General Manager

Position Summary

Prioritising the importance of customer satisfaction. Maintaining the level of excellent cleanliness standards of the kitchen.

Below is a list of responsibilities. This is not a conclusive list and you will be expected to comply with reasonable requests from your employer and their representatives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Undertaking tasks when requested by the Head and Sous Chef. Dealing with any issues arising in a swift, discreet and unbiased manner.

Have knowledge of the menu to effectively carry out tasks as requested by the Sous Chef and Head Chef.

  • Follow food hygiene and safety as instructed by the Head Chef. This includes Food Control plan (FCP) administration as directed by the the Head Chef.
  • Acknowledging the quality and consistency of Food/plates produced within the restaurant.

Assisting the Sous Chef and Head Chef efficiently and accurately with customer complaints when required.

Reporting maintenance of kitchen fixtures, fittings and equipment required to the Sous Chef or Head chef.

Adhere to instructions outlined by the Sous Chef and Head Chef to ensure reduction in waste, improvement in process efficiency therefore increase customer satisfaction.

Replenishing stock as instructed. Unpacking restaurant deliveries and storing as instructed by the Sous Chef, Head chef or management. Having the physical ability to do so as required by Health and Safety Regulations.

Maintaining the excellent standard of cleanliness in the Kitchen (not limited to other areas throughout the restaurant will be the responsibility of the Kitchen staff to keep in order and maintain cleanliness) This will be monitored by management via Checklists supplied to you
- in accordance with FCP and Health and Safety Regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30.0 per week
