Full job description

Residential Support Worker

  • Permanent, Full-time (40 hours per week)

  • Service operates 24 hours, 7days a week on a rotating roster (covering AM, PM and Awake Shifts)

  • Birkdale, Auckland

  • Ember Support Worker Pay Rates: $25.00 - $30.00ph (depending on qualification held and its equivalence to the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing L4, with stepped increases based on tenure)

The Service | Ko Te Whare O Abeo

Abeo House is an 8-bed, residential rehabilitation service. The service is supported 24/7 on a rotating roster, 3 shift per day – AM, PM and Awake.

Abeo works with guests/whai ora to build a daily routine to help them on their journey of recovery. To support this, we provide a programme in the morning and activities in the afternoon, offering on-going tools and encouragement to develop, grow and flourish.

Role | Nga mahi

Support Workers/Kaimahi, we believe, are the key ingredient for successful client outcomes. With our model of working, you will utilise your experience, skills, and knowledge of mental health rehabilitation to overcome any obstacles and barriers our whai ora may face.

Above all, we are looking for those who can embrace the breadth and variety of the role, which ranges from basic practical help to pioneering therapeutic support.


You will | Nga Pukenga

  • Have/working towards a National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent

  • Have the ability to work in a team environment and from a bicultural perspective.

  • Be professional and have good boundaries and ethics.

  • Have experience working in the area of mental health and/or addictions (alcohol and other drugs)

  • Full NZ Drivers Licence

  • Valid/Current work visa, residency, or citizenship

  • Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
