Glocal Bistro is seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant Manager to oversee the day-today operations of our popular restaurant located in Tōtara Park, Upper Hutt. Known for our diverse continental cuisine, all-you-can-eat dining options, happy-hour specials, warm hospitality, and vibrant dining atmosphere, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer experiences and high-quality food and beverage service.

As Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently, profitably, and in line with our high service standards. You will lead and support our front-of-house team, coordinate day-to-day operations, maintain food safety compliance, and help drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Minimum qualifications/experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience OR at least level 4 qualification

Key Responsibilities

· Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the daily operations of the restaurant.

· Coordinate menus, promotions, seasonal offerings, and special events in consultation with chefs and kitchen staff.

· Arrange the purchasing, pricing, and promotion of food, beverages, and other goods in accordance with budgets and business objectives.

· Maintain accurate records of stock levels, inventory movements, sales, and financial transactions.

· Monitor revenue, labour costs, food costs, and profitability and prepare operational reports as required.

· Ensure compliance with all food safety, licensing, health and safety, and hygiene regulations.

· Ensure dining, bar, and service areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.

· Communicate with customers to assess satisfaction with meals, beverages, and service, and promptly address feedback and complaints.

· Recruit, select, train, supervise, and support restaurant staff.

· Prepare and manage staff rosters and oversee day-to-day staffing requirements.

· Foster a positive team culture focused on customer service excellence and continuous improvement.

· Oversee stock control, ordering, supplier relationships, and wastage management.

· Manage reservations and support front-of-house operations during busy service periods as required.

· Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality food, beverages, and customer service.

· Implement initiatives to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and business performance.

· Coordinate marketing, promotional campaigns, and community engagement activities to attract and retain customers.

· Any other lawful request.

Other requirements

· Strong leadership and team management skills.

· Experience with staff training, rostering, and performance management.

· Excellent customer service and communication skills.

· Sound understanding of stock control, budgeting, and cost management.

· Knowledge of New Zealand food safety and health and safety requirements.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
