RESTAURANT MANAGER – FULL-TIME

BZ Limited trading as Lakefront Bar & Restaurant

Location: Taupō, New Zealand

Pay Rate: $32.00 – $42.00 per hour

Hours: Minimum 30 hours and maximum 45 hours per week

BZ Limited, trading as Lakefront Bar & Restaurant in Taupō, is seeking an experienced and capable Restaurant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, customer service, operational standards, financial controls, stock, compliance and the overall performance of the restaurant.

This is a full-time position offering a minimum of 30 hours and up to 45 hours per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to:

* Managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

* Ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently, professionally and in accordance with company standards.

* Planning and supervising restaurant services and daily workflows.

* Managing front-of-house staff and coordinating with kitchen staff.

* Recruiting, inducting, training, supervising and supporting employees.

* Preparing staff rosters and ensuring appropriate staffing levels for anticipated business demand.

* Allocating duties and responsibilities to staff.

* Monitoring employee performance and providing feedback, coaching and training where required.

* Assisting with managing staff attendance, leave, workplace conduct and performance matters.

* Maintaining high standards of customer service.

* Greeting and interacting with customers where required.

* Responding professionally to customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.

* Resolving service issues promptly and maintaining customer satisfaction.

* Monitoring service quality and ensuring customers receive a consistent dining experience.

* Managing restaurant reservations, table allocations and functions where required.

* Liaising with chefs and kitchen staff regarding menu availability, specials, dietary requirements and service expectations.

* Assisting management with pricing, promotions, special offers and marketing initiatives.

* Monitoring sales performance and identifying opportunities to improve revenue.

* Managing and monitoring operating costs and expenditure.

* Assisting with budgeting and financial planning for the restaurant.

* Monitoring daily takings, cash handling and point-of-sale transactions.

* Completing or overseeing end-of-day financial reconciliation.

* Maintaining appropriate financial and operational records.

* Monitoring stock levels for food, beverages, consumables and restaurant supplies.

* Arranging or approving stock orders as required.

* Liaising and negotiating with suppliers regarding pricing, quality and availability.

* Checking deliveries and ensuring appropriate inventory controls are maintained.

* Minimising stock loss, wastage and unnecessary expenditure.

* Monitoring food and beverage costs and helping maintain appropriate profit margins.

* Ensuring the premises are maintained in a clean, safe and presentable condition.

* Ensuring compliance with applicable food safety and hygiene requirements.

* Ensuring workplace health and safety procedures are followed.

* Maintaining appropriate operational and compliance records.

* Ensuring staff understand and comply with company policies and procedures.

* Coordinating functions, special events and busy service periods.

* Reviewing restaurant performance and recommending operational improvements.

* Developing strategies to improve customer experience, productivity and profitability.

* Promoting the restaurant and assisting with local marketing and customer engagement initiatives.

* Building and maintaining good relationships with customers, suppliers and other third parties.

* Reporting operational, staffing and financial matters to the directors or business owners.

* Undertaking other reasonable management and administrative duties required for the effective operation of the business.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

* A minimum of three years of relevant hospitality and/or management experience; and/or

* A relevant Level 5 qualification in Hospitality, Business, Management or a related field.

The ideal candidate will also:

* Have demonstrated leadership and staff-management skills.

* Have strong customer-service and communication skills.

* Be confident managing a busy hospitality operation.

* Have sound organisational and problem-solving abilities.

* Understand stock control, rostering, cost management and restaurant administration.

* Be able to work independently and take responsibility for operational decisions.

* Be reliable, professional and able to work under pressure.

* Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required.

* Competitive pay of $32.00 – $42.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

* Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, with up to 45 hours per week available.
