We Are Hiring – Café Manager

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual for the role of Café Manager to join our café located at Westport, New Zealand.

We are an independent eatery passionate about good food, great coffee, and authentic customer service, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch.

Position Details

• Position: Café Manager (1 Vacancy)
• Pay Rate: $25–$26 per hour (negotiable depending on experience and knowledge)
• Employment Type: Full-time
• Minimum Hours: 30 hours per week
• Working Hours: The café operates from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Sunday. The successful candidate must be flexible and available to work within these hours, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the café/restaurant.
• Plan and organise private events and celebrations.
• Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house and kitchen staff.
• Oversee front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
• Build positive customer relationships, address concerns, and resolve complaints efficiently.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and improve productivity and service quality.
• Plan menus and pricing in consultation with the chef while maintaining high food-quality standards.
• Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate financial records.
• Manage budgets and implement cost-control measures to minimise expenses.
• Promote the business through special offers, discounts, and social media.
• Maintain a positive business image and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
• Always maintain a safe environment for customers and staff.

Job Requirements

• At least 1–3 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Applicants with a relevant qualification but no work experience may also be considered, as full training will be provided.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
• A clean criminal record.
