Full job description
Eddyline Pizzeria & Brewpub in sunny Nelson, New Zealand is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager ready for a real life change. If you're a hospitality professional in the US or Canada who's been dreaming about a move overseas - not just thinking about it, but ready to actually do it - this could be your chance.
You must be able to attain a Working Holiday Visa to begin working in New Zealand (this is easy to obtain). We are an Accredited Employer and can sponsor a successful applicant under the Accredited Employer Work Visa, giving you the opportunity to stay in New Zealand past the duration of this visa with a job already lined up.
Note: This position is based in Nelson, New Zealand. Relocation is required. Visa and relocation advice are provided.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role covering both front-of-house and the kitchen, a bit different from most restaurant manager jobs, so read closely:
- Lead a passionate FOH team and create great guest experiences, every shift
- Oversee kitchen operations and supervise our cooks. Note: we run a pizza-only menu, so this isn't a chef reliant kitchen. Our cooks are capable of working independently but need a manager who can keep them on track, maintain consistency, and step in when needed
- Train and support staff to follow proven systems, front and back of house
- Assist with hiring and scheduling across the whole team
- Liaise with owner to keep everything running smoothly
We keep things simple and focused: pizza + local beer and pizza done really well, which means one manager can genuinely run the whole floor and kitchen supervising 6-10 staff at a time without needing to be a trained chef.
About You
- At least 2 years' hospitality management experience in a customer-facing role
- Comfortable supervising kitchen staff, even without a culinary background. You're organized, hands-on, and good at coaching people
- This is the big one: you're not just curious about living abroad, you're genuinely motivated to make the move. This is a huge leap for most Americans and Canadians, and we want someone who's already thought hard about it, not someone testing the waters
What We Offer
- $30 NZD/hour starting wage (~$18 USD / ~$25 CAD)
- Full-time role (30-40 hours per week based on your needs)
- 4 weeks of paid annual leave each year (standard in NZ, but rare compared to North America!)
- Visa sponsorship + support with the application process
- Airport pickup and other assistance/advice as needed
- A welcoming, community-focused team
- The chance to live in Nelson/Richmond, NZ's adventure hub: beaches, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, wineries, and more
Commitment
We're looking for someone who can commit to at least 1 year, ideally longer.
Job Type: Full-time
Benefits: Employee discount, Paid time off, Paid training
Pay: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- Free food
- Visa sponsorship

- This role requires relocating to Nelson, New Zealand for at least one year. In a few sentences, tell us why you're specifically interested in making this move, and what steps (if any) you've already taken to plan for it.

- This position requires you to have at least 1 year experience working as a restaurant manager. Which of your past positions best meets this requirement?
