Full job description

A busy fast food outlet in Hamilton is looking for Shop Assistant/Fast Food Cook [Pizza Maker] to join our team.

Working hours will be minimum 30 hours per week depending roster or seasonal requirement.

Prerequisites for the job are:

  • Class 1 car license or equvivalent
  • High School or College Education or Equvivalent OR
  • 0 - 6 months of relevant work experience
  • Able to work long and flexible hours including weekends, early morning and late evening shifts.
  • Fit and able to lift heavy weight and are able to stay on their feet during the entire shift

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall restaurant and kitchen cleanliness.

  • Ensure that stock levels are maintained and rotated

  • Operate check out and supervise when floor gets busy.

  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, vendors and agencies

  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints

  • Liaise with owner to determine if there is any update to the menus and/or special deals

  • Monitor compliance with the health and safety regulations.

  • Such other duties that may be assigned from time to time

  • Assist to ensure that food costs are kept within budget and avoid food waste
  • Ensuring that all food prepared meets management expectations of quality

  • Encouraging frank and open communication between staff and management

  • Ensuring that the kitchen is kept clean at all times

  • Maintaining Health & Safety requirements within the restaurant

  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations

  • Performance of any other duties as required by Management

  • Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.

  • Provide support to other kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.

  • Recruit and train new kitchen employees to meet restaurant and kitchen standards.

  • Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations.

  • Prepare pizzas out of our menu and based on custom orders and as per their dietary requirements

  • Wash and chop vegetables (for example, tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms)

  • Cut, slice and grill meats like chicken, ham and beef

  • Monitor food stock and place orders, as needed

  • Maintain a clean cooking station and sterilize equipment

  • Serving customers as needed
  • Assist with Pizza deliveries as needed

It is a Full-time role working minimum 30 hours per week including evening shifts and weekends, we need people who are committed and turn up to work on time unless they have a reasonable excuse.
