Full job description
Job Title: Security Officer
Location: Auckland Region
Reports To: Security Supervisor / Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
The employee is engaged as a Security Officer. This is a dual‑function role, and the employee may be required to carry out patrol duties, static guarding duties, or any other security‑related tasks that support the safe and effective operation of the business. The employer may assign work across any of these areas at its discretion.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Carrying out patrols of buildings, sites, and perimeters on foot or by vehicle, ensuring all areas are secure.
- Performing static guarding duties at entrances, reception areas, checkpoints, or any other designated post.
- Monitoring and controlling access to sites, including checking identification, issuing passes, and refusing entry where appropriate.
- Observing and operating CCTV, alarm systems, and other monitoring equipment.
- Responding to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and any suspicious behaviour in accordance with company procedures.
- Completing all required reports, logs, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Conducting building, equipment, and safety checks as required.
- Providing professional and courteous assistance to staff, visitors, contractors, and clients.
- Maintaining a visible and attentive security presence at all times.
- Working cooperatively with other officers to ensure full coverage and effective site security.
- Attending training, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Looking after company equipment, uniform, and vehicles and reporting any issues promptly.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth and safe operation of the business.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all workplace health and safety regulations and policies.
Participate in safety drills and training sessions as required.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in security or law enforcement (preferred).
- Must have a valid New Zealand driver’s license (Class 1)/Equivalent Overseas Drivers License or ability to get one.
- Current COA or the ability to get COA at a short notice.
- Clean Criminal Conviction History.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work over 7x days 24 hours on roster basis.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform duties that may involve standing or walking for extended periods.
Minimum 30 hours a week
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour
Licence/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- Certificate of Approval (Preferred)
- Class 1 Driver Licence (Preferred)
