Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Student Wellbeing Facilitators to join the Student Wellbeing team on a casual contract. The role of a Student Wellbeing Facilitator is to provide peer wellbeing support through engaging students in conversation and activities. It is also to empower students to make the most of support that can enhance their personal wellbeing, e.g. self-help resources and services available at University.
Key responsibilities:

Actively welcome and engage students in conversation and activities.

Provide peer wellbeing support.
-
Refer students to other services.
-
Promote social connectedness and engagement.
-
Boundary inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour and seek support as needed.
-
Promote healthy and balanced lifestyles.
-
Host a space and activities that are inclusive, positive and socially engaging.
-
Promote Manawa Ora-Student Wellbeing at events.
-
Attend training and team meetings.
-
Respond to communication from supervisor and manager.
-
Complete timesheets weekly.
-
Support the implementation of Ki te rā: Student Wellbeing Outcomes Framework.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
Key requirements:
-
A current student at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington.
-
Available for 3-6 hours of shifts per week during trimester 1 and trimester 2 teaching weeks.
-
Flexibility to attend rostered shifts, team meetings, and respond to communication.
-
Commitment to application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in an educational context.
-
Experience in peer support, telephone counselling or group facilitation.
-
Experience, knowledge, and awareness of the University environment and the key issues for students.
-
Clear oral communicator with equity groups and young people aged 18-25.
-
The ability to maintain confidentiality and personal boundaries.
-
Knowledge and experience of te ao Māori and in working with Māori individuals, whānau and communities.
-
Experience and interest in working with Pasifika, rainbow, gender diverse, refugee-background, disabled people, and international communities.
-
Ability to work flexibly and be adaptable to changeable circumstances.
