Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

In this role, you will coordinate volunteer programmes and initiatives that support the engagement, retention and recognition of our volunteers. You will help ensure volunteer information is accurate and accessible, develop meaningful volunteer opportunities and support staff across the wider Guide Dogs department to confidently manage and engage volunteers. You will:

  • Coordinate integrated volunteer retention, recognition, feedback and compliance initiatives across Guide Dog Services.
  • Review, develop and maintain volunteer roles, records, documentation and related information.
  • Develop and manage a corporate volunteer programme that creates meaningful opportunities for people to contribute to Guide Dog Services.
  • Build the capability of staff who manage volunteers by providing guidance and practical support.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s Volunteering Strategy while helping foster a positive and well-supported volunteer experience.


Ko wai koe | About you

You will be a confident and organised people centred person who enjoys bringing groups together, coordinating projects and creating positive experiences for volunteers.

With a qualification in Arts, Social Sciences or equivalent experience, you will bring at least two years’ experience in a similar role, along with practical skills in facilitation, influencing, programme development and implementation. You will have:

  • High organisation skills with ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate resources effectively.
  • Well-developed communication skills that support growth of strong relationships and can be adapted to a diverse range of people.
  • Strong initiative to work through challenges autonomously and contribute positively as part of a team.
  • Experience developing systems and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A growth mindset that is aligned with Blind Low Vision NZ’s values.

Experience in volunteer management would be an advantage, but most importantly you will be motivated by supporting volunteers and the extraordinary contribution they make to BLVNZ.
