Good place to work

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The long hour are consuming. The good thing is you set the atmosphere for the store working alone. The customers were great. Opportunity to move up in company fast. Some managers are unprofessional and very rude, but the best part is you mostly work alone. Low pay.

Pros

Work alone

Cons

Poor management

Worst place

Overall this company does not appreciate their employees. Management sucks, pay sucks. It’s not on your application, but they require you te enroll people on their prepaid card, if you don’t enroll people, they start giving out warnings. Enroll people on a card that has no benefits to it.

Great place to gain knowledge and skills

Working for Ace Cash Express you gain a lot of knowledge in the financial industry and sales skills. A typical day at work includes cashing checks, processing payday loans, and selling cards. Depending on what store you're scheduled at, you typically work alone. There are no breaks so you need to bring lunch or order out. You get to help people from all different walks of life so if you love working with the public, you'd be comfortable in this environment. The hardest part of the job is really nothing other than not being able to leave for a breath of fresh air or get a break. I enjoyed my time with them up until about the last 2 years. I realized that I was not going to advance beyond a store manager and lead and decided to move on to a job that has allowed me to advance and grow. Not to say that opportunity for growth doesn't happen at Ace but most of the advancement there requires you to move out of state. There wasn't much room for advancement in my area and I was overlooked for an opportunity to be a dm in my area many times. But I was the go to person for support whenever we transitioned dms. I outlasted 7 dms and the 8th stepped down at the same time I officially resigned. It would have been nice to have been considered at least once. But overall my experience was a good one.

Pros

Earn incentives on card sales and direct deposit enrollments, decent benefits

Cons

No breaks, always short staffed which affects others being able to take pto, turnover of district managers

District & coworkers can make or break working here.

I had a great District manager and coworkers. I worked multiple centers before being assigned my own center. When your center doesn't have customers your able to catch up on paperwork and cleaning. When you do have customers you can't stop to eat or even use the restroom if your working by yourself. I was able to lock my till while working with new hires or co workers I didn't trust. The disrespect from some customers can be a lot to handle while long time customers prefer to use Ace due to the lack of trust for banks.

Pros

Our safety was a high priority.

Cons

No lunch or bathroom breaks if your the only one working.

Love what I do but not happy about favoritism

Work 4 days and have 3 days off is good. You learn something new almost everday. You do have to stay inside all day long and cant leave for any reason. Only thing that is negative to me is they pick the side of people who have been there for a really long time instead of listening to both sides.

A good starter job

You don’t need much experience in the field to get hired. Overall the job is easy. Most of the customers are regulars who already know the procedures so they are kind but depending at which location you’re working at the customers might sometimes give you a hard time . As for management I would say it’s overall good but it also depends on the manager you get. Most of the managers are professional and easy going MOST. The employees here are mostly kind and friendly and willing to help if you have any questions. The major downside from this job is the pressure they have on you for card sales and having to enroll customers in setting up direct deposit. The goals they have set are almost impossible to keep up with unless you work at a busy location. After just a few months of not reaching the company’s goals you will be terminated it doesn’t matter how long you have working for the company or how good of an employee you actually are. So most employees here are on their toes about the job. Another thing is it kind of hard to get a set schedule (unless you’re a manager) so you schedule will vary from week to week. Often times we are short staffed so you will have to work the whole day alone and are lucky if you someone can come cover your lunch. Overall a good job to get experience but if you’re not good or into sales your time with the company will be limited

Pros

Friendly staff

Cons

Constant pressure to meet goals

Great work place, horrible management.

As a now “ex-employee” of this establishment, I can finally say that the management here sucks. The work itself isn’t hard or complicated & the customers are GREAT... But we are over worked 6 days a week from open to close, no breaks in between just our lunches, covering for shifts on your only day offs or half days, working every weekend when signed on for rotating weekends, no actual guidance from higher management... just thrown into the stores & expected to be worked as if we are just another number for this company...Of all that, I did not mind it at all, I liked the work & of course all of my customers. Management really needs to step up, The Sacramento district is falling & it starts with them. High standards for a company who can’t keep their employees. If you don’t mind the long hours, lack of communication of the higher ups, no guidance than this is the place for you!

Pros

Great work

Cons

No breaks, no guidance, management is no help at all

Too many hours alone

You're expected to work by yourself from open to close without any breaks. You don't get an actual lunch break, eat as you work. Customers are abusive and bosses don't care and just tell you it's a part of the job.

Do not work here ! Demeaning management.

You have to meet sales quota, if not you are given an ultimatum to pretty much improve or get fired. Very greedy company. They don't pay most holidays and expect so much as if they're expensive loans don't push people away.

Pros

Free lunch hour

Cons

No lunch breaks

Okay job

Okay job to start off at. Don’t stay here longer than 2 years. Raises are a joke! Long hours but you do get 3 days off. Plan to spend a lot of time alone.

Nice place to work but management sucks

Overall it is a decent place to work at & the pay is not bad. You basically do nothing all day in most stores because it doesn’t get too busy until the end of the month or the beginning & obviously on paydays. But if you are not a manager they will have you floating around the whole Orlando working in different stores that can be even an hour away. Management sucks & has a lot of favoritism & is disorganized . Shifts are basically 10-12 hours ALONE in the store & you normally only get 1-2 days off & it’s usually a weekday . You will have no life

Pros

Good pay, easy work, slow stores

Cons

Poor management, no work-life balance, long shift with little days off

Great company, but not easy work.

Customer service is key. If you can’t deal with people of all walks of life, then this job isn’t for you. The managers are awesome, and you mainly work alone so that’s awesome too! But be ready to work hard!

Pros

Good hours.

Cons

No breaks when busy.

Pressure to sell cards.

This company doesn't give you a raise, the raises are pretty much based off the DMs opinion of you. Its usually only two people working in a center. One opens, one closes. If you get sick at work, good luck trying to leave if needed. There is a big pressure to sell cards. If you don't, you get threatened. They will fire a good employee if said employee is not meeting card sales.

Pros

Customers

Cons

managment, and pay!

Great place

I actually liked my job here. Hating being stuck behind the counter without ever getting to leave or take a break. Being pushy about the cards was awful.

Cons

No breaks

Do not do it

Worst management experience ever. They are always understaffed. Many times I had to work 13 hr shifts alone and skip my lunch without warning. So I wasn't even able to get food and had to figure out what to do. They do not care about employees at all.
