Modern, fast paced, dinamic, up to date, great medical and surgical procedures, practices and honest.

Central to most medicine, practical and transparent reporting, culture, policies and team performance reviews. Job security, staffing and compliance with WHO is always paramount. Multidisciplinary team work is unique and ongoing. Clean environment, easy to access all areas, secured and safe working conditions prevail.

Staff support

I was only employed at ADHB for 3 months and cant give a more indepth rating unfortuntately.

Every day was extremely busy with juggling diaries, minutes and emails with over 18 people in our team. I learnt a new skill set with typing medical report and minutes. I had two vey different managers who had very different management styles which were not easy to follow. Co-workers were all very accommodating. Difficult part of my job was trying to understand the hectic pace/terminology of the medical field. Enjoyed organizing all the functions and meeting all people from all walks of life.

Flexible, no two days the same.

As a Temp - You get sent to different places. Usually I spent anywhere from about a week to a month in an area. Because a temp's hours and income are not always guaranteed I took extra steps to ensure myself of a steady income. Make a good impression with every employer I was sent to so that I got frequent requests to return. Therefore I felt it imperative that I make sure I leave a good impression the first time so that I would always be thought of first when it came to someone requiring a temp. A permanent employee does not have the same insecurities. Over the period of two years that I worked as a temp my goal of getting requested to cover sites repeatedly was achieved. I became quite competent with the patient systems that are used by one of NZ's busiest hospitals. A typical day at work usually required finding out where you were going to be working for the day, meeting the charge nurse, quickly scrolling through a brief job description of the particular area, finding out where the person you are covering for left off and then keeping track off all incoming and outgoing patients. Ensure that NZ's taxpayer funded healthcare system was been used appropriately. The hardest part of the job was almost always been the newbie on the block but that was also a good thing in that I got to meet lots of new people and other places. The most enjoyable part of the day would be the variety and helping patients and their families through there stressful times.

Just like working with family

A typical day at work can vary from, transporting patient meals in trolleys to hospital wards, to assembling patient foods , to production . A day for me at work in the Nutrition Services Department is in the "Ingredients Room" . Just like witches cooking up potions with certain ingredients, my job is to, weigh up production recipes for our hospital chefs/cooks. Each ingredient needs to be precise. And that is probably the most hardest part of the job. Anything can go wrong for ex. Cornflour is needed but have mistakenly given baking powder Mistakes I cannot afford to make, but along the way I do learn from it when I do make mistakes The most easiest part of the job, is working alone in peace and working at your own pace. Co-Workers and management are awesome, they are very friendly, committed and trustworthy. They are very much like family
