Productive and easy-going workplace

A day's work contained support from the team members throughout the whole store, especially during peak hours. As a checkout operator, checkouts is a prioritised department during peak hours and every time we were overwhelmed with customers we were backed up by most of the store employees. The management team did what they can and ensure that we were working in the most efficient way while make sure we were fine to work. Overall Countdown provided experience that would be essential for future work.

Pros

Lovely team work

Cons

Shift times were unclear sometimes

Working at countdown is a good job to have especially if you want to be a permanent staff member it has a steady pay if you are not part time or casual.

Pros

Catty environment

Worked there as a teenager and it was horrible! One supervisor would tell you to do something a certain way and the other would suggest you do something completely different, I was expected to know everything when it'd been my first job ever as a checkout operator and co-workers would constantly gossip in front of me and customers, it was disgusting and they seriously need to learn basic HR. Overall, I'd say only had a handful of co-workers that were pleasant the 7 months I worked there. I just remember 2 supervisors that worked there went out of their way to be completely textbook, narcissistic, sociopathic, headcases for no reason, the only reason I even gave the job a 2 star rating was cos I changed supervisors that was extremely nice to me.

Pros

Good hours, good pay (for a teenager), re-training, not having to deal with the same nightmarish supervisor everyday.

Cons

Extremely awful HR, bullying.

Friendly and Productive Workplace

Countdown Supermarkets was an amazing place to work, staff were friendly and always willing to help each other. The work hours were at times long, but with a good team, duties were always carried out efficiently and with a smile. Customer care was a primary priority, and in my time there I learnt many skills such as communication and time management. Every staff member at Countdown Supermarkets worked well and to the best of their capabilities which meant the work duties were never tedious.

workplace

being at countdown central mall is always a family environment. I love it because everyone is always friendly, and lovely. My co-workers are the ones that I enjoy most about my job because they always look out for you, no matter what your position. I have learned so much while at countdown such as collecting trolley, operating a checkout, handling money, customer service, supervising and more but I have been with countdown for six years now and it is about time that I try other opportunities also new start and new beginnings.
