I enjoyed working with Downer for 32 years. I gained valuable experience in the time and made many life long friends. I was made redundant after 32 years due to the downturn in the industry. I will utilise the knowledge and experience I gained into my future job positions.

Recognition of good work

Management are good the only management are the people on site. consistent with standards with the in electrical field. Work with the sites sometimes requires other skills and can be good to with equipment required. Not much mucking around with work all workers are keen to help and aslong as your working the work keeps rolling in.

Long hours but worth it! - I learned to work well in a team environment - Management was fair - Diverse workplace culture which is a plus - Being away from home for long periods is the down side to this kind of work - Socializing and using the recreational facilities was on the up side to the job on the mine
being away from home for long periods
Morning prestart and discuss jobs and tasks for the day and assign them to the work crew on site. Commercial construction experience Good solid management and supervisory staff Good guys to work with. Made the job a lot easier. The hot days were really hard but working with a good bunch of guys really made the difference.
My everyday work would involve pre start meeting every morning to discuss relevant tasks throughout the day that would have to be carried out or completed. Im a fast learner and always driven to learn something new. I can well in a team environment and I'm a very easy person to get along with. I do thrive on working alone as well, as in some jobs/tasks, too many cooks can spoil the broth. The hardest part of the job is expecting nothing ever to be "perfect" but to thrive and make the best out any situation and do it the best I possibly can. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to develop amazing relationships you do with co-workers and being able to bounce ideas off each other is a key in this industry.
Support myself and my family
The day would begin with our pre start meeting and then get our tasks for the day. I learnt from skilled Supervisors who did not hesitate to assist. Management were motivated in job completion but NOT at the expense of safety for there employees. Thoroughly enjoyed working with my workmates whom I am still in contact with after 9 years. Hardest part of the job would have to be leaving Downer as no work was on offer at the time of project completion. Forming friendships.
Have enjoyed working for a company that actualkly cares for the safety and health of it,s workers.
