This is a great place to work especially if you're local to the area. The pay is competitive and work-life balance is great. The overtime we get during the holidays is really nice. The vacation time is wonderful! If you have small children it works out great because you basically have the entire holiday off with your kids 😃. Now for the downside... the longer that I'm with this company the more that I realize management has no clue what's going on. The communication within the company is very poor. People are in charge of departments that should not be due to lack of experience which creates a hectic environment for the employees. If you don't mind being stressed out everyday while you come to work and make decent money and get good benefits then this is the place for you!

The principal engineers are stuck in the past and they want to do everything as they did 30 years ago. They are not accountable for progress but they approve everything, so, unless you do everything exactly as they say, there's no progress on deliverables and projects hurt.

Trained me for only 4 days. Then stuck me on a sonic cleaner for 2 weeks. Came back to train on assembly on 4th week , a Monday. They got rid of me that day. Said I didn't know what I was doing? 25 years in advanced assemblies. These people don't bother to train You. Then blame you for not understanding what is going on. you

There is a very low morale at this company that is more infectious than than COVID19. Even some of the management feel this. The management team at Stafford are generally very good but the higher management in France and the US generally stop any of the team in Stafford from doing a good job and running what was a fantastic company. There are many of highly skilled people, the best in the business that work in GE Grid Solutions in Stafford, however these people get all the work piled up on them whilst the other manage to do very little and get away with it. The hardest part of the job at GE is trying not to feel too embarrassed when you have to let the customer down again and again either by missing milestones due to no project resource or by bug ridden software that fails continuously. The company quality procedures are erratic and how they have achieved their ISO certification frankly amazes me.(Backhander springs to mind). Obviously GE will deny this as their ethics "spirit and the letter" charter would not allow this to happen. They do pay reasonably well and have a good benefits package. The Factory restaurant is very good too and has a wide selection of hot and cold dishes that meet most dietary requirements. I really hope this place does improve as the factory its self is very impressive and so are most of the employees. They are just let down by a bloated and arrogant top level management in France or the US.

It's a giant confused company nothing great

It carries a rich legacy which is its bane at the same time, the company is facing a continuous year on year revenue decline and does not have any concrete plans to overcome but to fire people left right and center. Other than that it's a place where you come, work and go back home nothing in between, parties or team gatherings are unheard of. it's a very top-heavy organization and people have this sense of entitlement... Senior management otherwise is generally receptive. Now for some good stuff there's a gym which is at a subsidized price and that's it.
