Slow-paced but simple
Retail Assistant (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 18 February 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPretty standard retail job, average pay. Cons: Rostered hours can be unbearably slow to get through, since most of the time you are expected to manage the store and it is often quiet. If you happen to work at a low priority store, issues, especially IT problems can take days to resolve. Pros: If you like the brand, staff discount is generous however only applies to full-priced items (though sometimes still feels overpriced). Shifts are flexible as a casual as you can pick and choose what days you're available and no. of hours - good work-life balance. Higher up management is responsive and understanding with staff dealing with technical issues and customer complaints when they are escalated.

Favouritism, low salary, slow days, poor management, b*tchy
Retail (Former Employee) - Australia - 4 February 2022
Working at jeanswest was all the worst parts of retail in one job. The work was so unbearably slow and then they wonder why we couldn’t hit KPIs. Loveddd favouritism and made that very obvious. Exploited young employees as they knew it was cheap to hire yet had such unrealistic expectations. B*tchy management (or lack of management I should say) that loved toxic retail culture, talking behind eachothers backs, getting into your personal business. Pros: Staff discount woohoo on ugly poor quality fast fashion clothing I wouldn’t be seen dead in outside of the store
Pros
Staff discount
Cons
Favouritism, low salary, slow days, poor management, culty customers, poor retail culture

Awful
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Australia - 16 September 2020
Don't do it. They don't care about the staff at all. You get minimal pay and minimal hours. Doesn't matter how hard you work to do well for your store they only how much money you make when the stores get such little turn over anyway. Awful in the COVID-19 pandemic, didn't get jobkeeper or any support from them. Not worth it at all.
Pros
Great teams that are going thrpugh the same thing.
Cons
Everything. The company sucks.

It’s ‘alright’
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 3 January 2019
Manager and coworkers are lovely but really depends on who gets hired. Little to no cares about shop lifting or employee safety as it’s all covered by insurance. Prices are high so even with an employee discount you’re still paying more than it’s worth (and being paid minimum wage means it’s not easy to afford) . Constant customer returns and outbursts. But customer care is always there to help (even if they’re a bit harsh sometimes). However, joyful to learn the system and feel like a wiz when you know exactly what to do and how to work your way around the programs
Pros
Nice people, customer care help
Cons
Poor pay, little employee safety, high priced clothing, constant returns
