Manager was let down
Store Assistant (Former Employee) –  Pool, Cornwall19 October 2019
Lidl the company are excellent.
It’s the branch that I worked at that was a let down, this is down to the manager, if you’re young and pretty and he had a chance of cheating on his then g/f now wife, you will go far! he would spend most of the day womanising over the store head sets about felmale customers. He has no Control of his staff complete wimp.

Customer Service Assistant (Current Employee) –  Greater Manchester18 October 2019
Working for lidl is a physically demanding job which ever role your in, everyone gets stuck in and grafts, if not this will get noticed as you will just get left behind and end up getting under people's feet! Lidl is not a place for slackers you've got to be quick and efficient and you'll get by just fine. Hourly pay starts from £9 upto £10.10 for sales Assistants which is more than most retailers, get your own 10% discount card, decent uniform in different fits, (slim fit/regular) your wage is worked out off a time banking process is what lidl call it so whatever your contracted hours per week are you will always be paid them hours no matter what, which means even if 1 week your only working 15 hours and your contract is 20 you'll still get paid 20 hours! so your paid in arrears but it all balances out each month so that you always end up with overtime pay anyway by the end of the month. The managers are great always appreciative of the work you put in so cant complain, the whole team is friendly and welcoming, the sales Assistant role is hard work but easy and straightforward. First job in my entire life I can honestly say I genuinely love my job and don't dread going to work like previous jobs which is a nice feeling to have....hope I haven't spoke too soon!

management décevant
IT (Current Employee) –  Strasbourg (67)18 October 2019

Store Associate (Former Employee) –  Wilson, NC17 October 2019
Good pay and great co-workers. Very fun crew. The manager was rude at times. Besides that, it is a pretty good place to work. It gets busy fast you just need to keep up.

Store Manager (Current Employee) –  South East17 October 2019
Pro's
Money- Excellent pay for deputy managers and above

Con's
Everything else is poor and that is all due to not being provided with enough hours to do a decent job and lack of knowledgeable training that you can implement on a daily basis
Corners have to be cut every day in order to meet unrealistic deadlines

Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Greenville, SC17 October 2019
There is not a designated department you work for. You have to be quick and fast pace. This is not a job for you if you lack the common sense. Wade Hampton is probably the best one to work at if you choose to work for Lidl.
Pros
Good people to work with
Cons
A LOT of work for little pay

horrendous management and work:staff ratio. Management is lacking in training and there are simply not enough bodies on the shop at one time to handle tasks and tills.

I wouldnt recommend anyone to work here.
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire15 October 2019
This place is a masive joke. If you want to work hard to get up the ladder .well there is no point as its given to gradstudent instead of in house. You could pick and hit your pick rate and still be treated like trash but the other member of staff could be picking a lot worse than you and they don't get a word said to them but if you drop 1 percent of your pick rate they come straight up to you asking why its dropped 1 percent are you serious.. this is not for people who have family as they like you to work all the hours under the sun specially overtime all the time and all this heavy lifting you do and you only get the days you have off you are drained. Specially when you most of the time get only 1 day off . You never get any rest at all the managers think they can treat you like Trash! If you have a problem at home they pretend to care but when something happens they are down your throat straight away. Even ATM say one thing to you to help you but when it comes to the management get involved they pretend you never told them a thing to cover there own back. There all back stabbers it states there a family run company is it not. More like they cant even make a drink up in a brewery then make a shift run smoothly. If this place thinks working 5 days with 1 day off then another 4 with 1 day off then another 5 with 1 day off is helpful to people to get there energy back then what planet are they from. Specially when your picking up more than 25kg all day long from 8 hrs to 11 hrs when overtime is made as the shift is behind. they dont and I mean do NOT care about health and safety  more... you have to climb to get your pallets down which hurts if they come back and fall on you. And you are always over stretching consistently as items are well to high.and you are always falling over the straps as it's not a clean environment If you want to hurt yourself and be drained all day everyday then come here as you wont have a life at all. But if I was you look else where.  less
