Horrible company to work for, no care for staff well being in the slightest, looking back I regret working here for as long as I did. Management ran off bullying most of the time. Breaks are ridiculous, half an hour even for 10 hour shifts, most shifts wouldn’t get a break until after 7 hours of working. The way mystery shopper is run is horrible, works by hiding items and calling out staff and embarrassing them in front of a line of people and all other colleagues if you miss the slightest thing..baring in mind they make it as hard as they can or they wouldn’t have a job I guess... this is so nasty and unprofessional from an ethical point of view. The staff work their best for the company, they’re the wrong people to be targeting. Didn’t get told shifts until the week before making any form of a social life impossible. Wasn’t given contracted hours as store was trying to cut back on expenses which they did through staffs wages. Management was absolutely horrendous. Working at Lidl used to almost seem ‘worth it’ for putting up with being treated horribly simply for the wage, but even this isn’t any more attractive than other employees anymore. I genuinely think (and would hope) that the staff from regional managerial roles and above honestly have no idea how badly staff are actually being treated in their stores. This really needs to be improved on, it’s no wonder so many employees leave following a negative experience.
