The culture at the Ministry of Transport is very open and inclusive, and people are happy to help you out. The organisation is small, but its remit is large. It means that there are opportunities for younger/newer staff to lead or take responsibility for work, which they would not get at a smaller organisation.

Friendly workplace and interesting work

Senior Digital & IT Advisor (Former Employee) - Wellington City, Wellington

Working in a small internal team means that you need a broad understanding of all aspects of IT and be able to manage multiple vendors. The Ministry is small and the head office occupies a single floor, so you can quickly get to know everyone.

Lot of opportunities for creative work. Learning opportunities and regular updates of the company mission and vision. Aiming targetted outcomes at the end. I loved to work this place.

Interesting and varied work

Clerical duties-TON Bureau, Data entry operator (Former Employee) - Hamilton

Enjoyed this job, most of the work was interesting and varied. Good people to work with which is always important I think.Management and job security were good. Being on glide time was definitely a bonus as you could vary your work hours to suit, (within reason), as long as the required 40 hours were achieved each week.
