• Assisted in preparing recommendations to clients for improvements in accounting and control procedures.
• Gained exposure to areas of the financial statements including the balance sheet and profit and loss statements; assisted clients in preparation of their GAAP and IFRS financial statements.
• As the smallest of PwC’s four assurance groups, PCS engagements often have both limited staff and budgets. This requires an increased focus on efficiency and accountability, while still delivering high quality results.
• Worked directly with clients senior management in addressing technical accounting and financing issues related to merger and acquisition transactions.
Pros
Tout
Cons
Competition constante, équilibre vie privée/professionnelle
The most enjoyable part of the job borders around the excellent team spirit that existed within my group. We were all supportive of each other, with the readiness to cover additional shifts if any of our colleagues called in sick. The management was an open system, whereby all staff members have direct access to the top management, if necessary. It was a whistleblowing made-easy system. All in all, the place of work is always in compliance with health and safety regulations, which in essence makes it a good environment for customers and staff alike to interact.
Pros
Constant payrise and regular training.
Cons
Long hours
If your priority is a survival job with very limited growth options, this place is for you. The LAC only appeals if you have limited formal education. If you're professionally or career driven, steer clear of the London Acceleration Centre. Save yourself the pain and heartache of working minimum wage with a funny bunch in management.
Pros
Young people
Cons
Long hours, minimal income
The Service Delivery Center (SDC) / Acceleration Center (AC) is not the same as working at PwC in Toronto. There is a clear difference as demonstrated by the title of "specialist" compared to "associate". The type of work performed here is very admin and will not provide you with the experience you expect. There will be no client interaction, you basically perform all the work the other offices do not want to do. The work culture is very toxic with managers giving you their work while they go and chat around the office. The team expects you to work long hours and 60 hours a week yet the pay doesn't reflect the work you do. The structure of this office does not provide many opportunities for growth. Promotion is based on favoritism and the culture is highly political. I only recommend you working here for the "PwC" name however if you want a real career this is not the place.
Pros
Free Lunches occasionally
Cons
Long hours, poor management, no growth
People are nice and helpful, you get to work closely with upper management however compensation is less compared to industry standards, can improve on that
- good benefits but salary is not commensurate with workload- higher ups barely listen to staff- kpi-based - accessible location - people are nice to work with but I didn't like the company culture
Pros
good benefits
Cons
long hours, too much workload
If you choose to work here, take the time to research what you are getting yourself into. If you have anxiety issues or do not have a strong support system it can potentially be an emotionally traumatic experience.
Pros
Brand name, work experience for CPA license
Cons
Little to no on-the-job training, high pressure and intense environment, unreasonable expectations, ridiculously long hours, unsupportive peers and superiors. There are many more cons but these are just a few.
Fun place, salary intermediate, training opportunities relatively fewer than competition, poor management, does not do what it preaches, cannot keep rare talents, harbor dead conspiratorial dead woods.
Pros
Fun place
Cons
Poor management
Depending on the Line of Service, client facing vs. internal, you will have different experiences here. The strongest element is the overall culture and how they up-skill all of their employees.
Pros
Room for growth, culture and employee focused
Cons
Burn out, work/life balance, management bias
Terrible. You're essentially working minimum wage after getting a master's degree and CPA. Granted I don't think PwC as a whole is this bad however the Boston office is. It's the largest accounting firm in Boston by far but it's also the absolute worst. Go literally anywhere else.
Pros
Free food and drinks
Cons
Most conniving and disrespectful people you will ever meet
Management is actual told to keep you in the position you are in although they tell you how advancement and they ability to move into different positions is fairly easy with firm knowledge and performance. Most of the decisions at a supervisory level are made from personal standpoints and relationships and not professional
Cons
La prepotencia de algunos socios
Really you have to understand what the industry is trying to accomplishing and what is expected of employees based on that. You have to be prepared to take the CPA exam, otherwise continued employment and skill improvement is severely hindered.
Good WLB, but comp, management just sucks in general. Fair. Diversity is important. Fast-Paced. Innovative. Like any large global organization sometimes PwC becomes bottlenecked by its own functions (reporting, etc.) and cannot adjust quickly enough to meet market needs (from a sales perspective)
Pros
Good WLB
Cons
all else, low comp
Toxic culture, incompetent / checked out management, woefully inadequate training - disorganized and confusing systems - one way communication - Misery Inc.
Pros
Work from home
Cons
Too many to fit in this box
if you work with good team, you can stick around for many years. but if you work with bad team, you probably want to get out ASAP. Deployment can be very political. if you are the favored child, you will have higher chance of getting on better projects
