A very toxic work environment
Auckland - Busser (Former Employee) –  Auckland4 October 2019
The management always plays favorites with their friends and bully other employees. They would go back on accepted leaves, and give it to other people. They would complain if you go in sick and if you call in sick.

Busser/Bar hand (Current Employee) –  Auckland City, Auckland27 October 2017
Working at Skycity is awesome, they a lot of benefits even for casual employees. They have a floor dedicated only for employees, they provide heavily discounted buffet meals that are always healthy, they also provide shuttle services for everyone to make sure that they go home safe and sound.

Working on the floor in the casino is really exciting you never know whats gonna happen next, at one point you're working at a bar then the next you're on the other one helping them out. Learning things about drinks and learning skills from the bartender from many different bars are the highlight of this job. They even provide a lot of opportunities for everyone such as card dealer school and chef apprenticeships.
Pros
Cheap and healthy buffet, Shuttle service, Multiple career option

Skycity always keeps extra stuff on any events, so the pressure compare to anywhere else is much less. Supervisors are very friendly. Since this is a multinational company it has got a multi cultural stuff which is very significant part.
Pros
Brand Value
Cons

Host Responsibility
Busser (Current Employee) –  Auckland, N25 May 2014
Host responsibility is an important aspect at Skycity Conventions Centre simply because you must ensure that all your guests you attend to wait on there table must be greeted with manners, a great knowledge is given of the menu being served and enduring that all guest needs are met with utmost respect. A day at work may involve clearing dishes and glasses, setting up the buffet tables, and table settings, setting and serving tea and coffee, emptying bins, refilling water coolers, waiting on 4 or more tables and plenty more. The most enjoyable part is meeting new people from all across the world and the most hardest part of the job would be packing down the whole room and re-setting the room for the next function. Management is fair, and always clear on all instructions, if there is something I don't understand management make themselves approachable for questions or queries. My co-workers make work a fun and enjoyable place to work in, I am proud and lucky to work at Skycity.
Pros
Enjoying the lovely people you get to meet everyday.
