I have had some great managers and enjoyed working here. Love their mission and vision. The hardest part of the job is when new managers comes through that don't know the core business.
Pros
Opportunity to learn at any level is there if you want to
People I worked with were awesome, you make some good friends. The only downfall is that Management need to be more consistent with decision making across the board. The most enjoyable part of the job is how when kaimahi get together and support each other.
i think this organisation is very beneficial for a lot of people who would like to make a change in themselves or even others. It brings everyone close together and brings off a very fun vibe between the people. lots of adults and teens attend this this course 4 days a week for the normal school hours and you can either find your own way to get there or transport can be provided. the most enjoyable part for me was running around doing activities with everyone and colliding with other groups. Its a Maori organisation so a lot of islander/Maoris attend this program, but not only that there is at least one of every culture going there.
Te Wananga o Aotearoa is a great sociable environment to work for and learn from. All resources and support needed to upskill yourself is provided. Very supportive understanding management. Staff and management work in a team to get the job done.Lovely cultural opened environment.
A Māori worldview, philosophies and theories of education. ako (reciprocal and transformational relationship of teaching and learning); aro (assessment, evaluation, reflective praxis); whanaungatanga (enduring relationships) and te hiringa (spirituality and passion).
challenging but good at the same time. Working along side the Tutors in regards to funds. Enjoyed working with Administration and Finance Staff. Te Wananga O Aotearoa was under going restructuring so I cant say much except to say I enjoyed working there.
Tutoring both one on one and whole class. Planning and resource making. Consistent professional development and in house information sharing Supportive staff working together towards the revitalization of Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga The most enjoyable part of the job was witnessing of student development and learning, developing and maintenance of student relationships Lots of learning through singing, role play and games. The hardest part again was the consistent weekend work and teaching 3 nights a week keeping you away from the family night time routine Developing my own personal pedagogy through identifying learning styles and Accelerated Learning Techniques.
Pros
Working with great people to revitalize the Maori language
Cons
teaching at night working most weekends as well as days
Going to work was a typical day, because you enjoyed having the weekend off then monday it starts all over again. I learned alot when i was working. Management was okay. Co-workers were pretty good beside one person sometimes. The hardest part of the job was when your busy doing your work and someone tells you to do something else,it gets frustrating sometimes. The enjoyable part of the job is when everybody gets together and joke with each other even the management.
