Great Culture, just not that great compensation

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The culture and the people are great. If pay is not your primary motivating factor this is a good company to grow. I enjoyed my stay here however after being in the company for so long I feel that I should be getting higher compensation.

Don't care for employees

Telus will easily drop you when they don't need you, no loans, they don't care if yiu seek their help, managers don't defend their employees. But they have free gifts years , and their benefits are reasonable...

Pros

Free gifts every year and salary increase annually .

Cons

Easy to be fired

It’s a decent job

Definitely stressful but once you know the job it’s easy and if customer service isn’t your area of work then I wouldn’t recommend it. But overall I like my job and it pays the bills.

What is the best part of working at the company? Many training opportunities. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? You start as a contractor. So you have no benefits. You don’t get holidays off and you can’t work so you lose those hours. The time card system is a mess so you have to pay close attention to your hours or you will be missing money on your paycheck, which happens very often What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The managers don’t really have a clue what’s going on. You will move around from team to team, but no one accounts for the moves so management will call often to figure out where your working at. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Spend most of the day on standby waiting to work on a tool. When on standby you stay in the cafeteria of the fab and it gets really boring.

Great work culture however at some cost

This a great call center with some good people in leadership. You get what you give and you are overly pressured to do more if you don't want to. However, I would say the compensation packages there are slightly lower than industry standards,at least in my role.

Pros

Some great leadership promoted into their roles, growth is possible within the company, fun environment, ping pong table

Cons

Relatively subpar compensation

Best company

Telus is a great company to work for. It gave me the opportunity to grow professionally and personally. Sometimes the job can be stressful but management always tried to make me feel comfortable and support me, when needed. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

Pros

friendly environment

Cons

no possibility to work from abroad

Not great

Stunted developmentNo room for progressionLimited tasksConstricted work environmentPoor salaryNo real bonuesTry to cover for all this with sporadic partiesHigh staff turnover tells its own story

The pay is very low per task.

The tasks change all the time, and it takes sometimes an hour or more to read all the guidelines. Of course there is no pay for that time. The job was overall not interesting.

Pros

Flexible schedule. I could work whenever I wanted if tasks were available.

Cons

Mundane work, no pay for reading guidelines for different tasks.

Interesting work

This is a good company to work for. You have to do a LOT of work in very short time intervals and the pay is very low. It is a job that is interesting and very hard work. You learn a lot.

If you want to feel depressed, go for it. (Airbnb)

Seriously, I mean it. It has to be one of the worst companies I've ever had to work for. There's absolutely NO work and life balance, sometimes your roaster is updated the night before the first day of the week and your days off are unreliable. It makes it impossible to plan things or to even have a life outside of work. The managers are overworked and don't have time to answer your questions and with such a short training, trust me, you will have a LOT of questions. They're constantly under pressure- the only time you'll get to speak to them is so that they can lecture you about how to reach targets and get a good NPS. That and also sending passive agressive messages in the group chat, telling people to work even faster than they already do, telling people to solve more tickets and not to work overtime when you LITERALLY don't have the choice. The job on its own is a COMPLETE pain and the company surely doesn't even help. Working from the office might make you feel less lonely, but it's no better than working from home. I mean, to be honest, they don't even let you go to the bathroom whenever you want to. Most people quit and the turnover rate is pretty high. Why? Because Telus International is a company that acts like it cares about its employees when the reality is that they simply don't. And that's something you'll be able to confirm within the first couple of weeks. To sum it all up, if you like being under bad pressure for a bad salary, bad conditions, have a bad training then be stranded once you start, or if you just like unreal expectations since they're understaffed -

Decent Side Hustle

You shouldn’t go into this job expecting to live solely off the income that you make here because it’s a bit unpredictable and there is a maximum of 20 hours that you can work a week. It is still good as a side hustle or for some extra side income.
